EVERYONE experiences times of sadness and anxiousness throughout their lives. No one can prevent these feelings from happening all the time, even though many of us would like to avoid them as much as possible because they're uncomfortable emotions. But what happens when someone gets "stuck" and can't figure out how to move past the sadness or anxiety? This can lead to depression or severe anxiety. Below is a short video that can help you understand what anxiety and depression are and why we sometimes have a difficult time letting them go. Sadness and anxiety are not "bad" emotions. We need all of our emotions! It's when we can't let the the sadness or anxiety go that it helps to talk to someone who can help us through it. As always, please reach out to me ([email protected]) if you need to talk to someone. Or check out the list of outside resources and agencies that I provided in last week's post.

I appreciate you mentioning that talking to someone who can support us through it might be helpful when we find ourselves unable to let the grief or fear go. With the death of her parents, my buddy is in such sorrow. She needs a professional to talk to since she is anxious. I'll advise her to get professional anxiety counseling.

Anxiety and depression are separate but often coexisting mental health conditions. Anxiety typically involves excessive worry and fear, while depression is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a loss of interest in activities. However, it's important to note that each person's experience with anxiety and depression may vary.

We treat anxiety disorders at The Well Woman. Anxiety disorders are considered the most common and frequently occurring mental disorders. Anxiety is a normal reaction to anything that might be threatening to a person’s lifestyle, values, self, or loved ones. Everyone experiences anxiety from time to time. One might feel a sense of discomfort, butterflies in the stomach, a rapid heart rate, or nervous fidgeting. Some degree of anxiety can benefit us and even motivate us to prepare for upcoming tasks such as an exam, presentation, performance, or to ward off a threat. However, too much anxiety can cause significant discomfort and interfere with life’s daily tasks.

Wow, cool post. I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real hard work to make a great article... but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though.
